Royal College of Psychiatrists seeks managing editor

This is a London-based full time post, paying £41,650 – £46,130 per year. Closing date : 29/10/2021. Interview date :17/11/2021.

We are seeking an ambitious, dynamic and creative person to take on the role of Managing Editor of our flagship journal The British Journal of Psychiatry (BJPsych). The successful candidate will have a mission to ensure that the journal achieves its full potential and continues to thrive in the coming years in a rapidly changing environment.
We are looking for an experienced publishing professional with excellent journal development experience, who can demonstrate that they have the skills to manage and improve the peer review process, deliver the kind of high-quality service that will encourage highly cited authors to choose BJPsych when submitting papers, and develop strong working relationships with Academic Editors and Editorial Board.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have a strategic vision for the future development of the journal, and a dedication to ensuring its continued rigor and effective dissemination of its content. Keeping up in a changing world is not enough, we need someone who shares and can deliver our ambition to continually improve the journal and compete with the best.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the professional membership body for psychiatrists and promotes excellent care for people with mental illness. It has 19,000 members and engages with the government and the media as the leading voice of the UK’s mental health services.
