Dr David Delvin holds a special place in the history and heart of the Medical Journalists’ Association, but newcomers to our craft may not be aware of the huge impact of the pioneer who is celebrated in the Dr David Delvin Award for Sex and Sexual Health Reporting, which is supported by David’s widow the author, broadcaster and journalist, Christine Webber.

David died in 2018, but his lasting impact lives on in the freedom with which GPs can now write about medical matters, and the honesty and openness that now surrounds reporting of sex and sexual health — topics which were, not that were relatively recently, considered not fit for print (or broadcast).
