The MJA was delighted to welcome AstraZeneca as principal sponsor of the MJA Awards 2024.
In 2024 the MJA’s premier award Outstanding Contribution to Health or Medical Journalism was awarded to Hannah Barnes, Associate Editor, New Statesman for her work, published in New Statesman: The Cass Review into children’s gender care should shame us all / How children’s gender care went so wrong. The judges said: Accessible, readable, balanced article covering an important and contentious topic. She recognises that this affects a very vulnerable group of people who need understanding, help and support. She highlights that any treatment needs to be evidence based, and where such evidence doesn’t exist, we should take steps to find the evidence to ensure that the patients get the best possible care.
