The MJA views climate change as a scientifically confirmed global threat to the health of people and the planet. We endeavour to reduce the carbon footprint of our operations in all areas and also to encourage members to contribute to reporting on this issue through their day to day work.
Our meetings should be online by default and in person by exception, to reduce travel and other costs.
We strongly encourage the use of public or shared transport for MJA related travel where possible/practical. The use of public transport is preferred in all cases, including internationally, and air travel should be avoided unless no alternative is practical.
We will seek sponsorship in the MJA awards for a prize that rewards excellence in reporting on health-related climate issues.
For all catered events, we will aim for low carbon menu choices, avoid single plastic use, and make all attempts to reduce food and other waste.
