Could you be the MJA’s next administrator?
The Medical Journalists’ Association is a thriving national organisation with around 450 members, including some of the top health journalists across broadcast, radio, print and online from across the UK.
Our much-valued administrator is stepping down after nine years in this exciting position and we are looking to appoint a replacement as soon as possible.
Tasks include (but may not be limited to) responding to queries from members and via the website, organising and minuting EC meetings and the AGM, posting updates on the MJA website, liaising with sponsors and responding to general queries. The successful candidate will also take the lead on organising our prestigious MJA annual awards ceremony and other high profile events, working alongside members of the Executive Committee.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, proactive self-starter with excellent organisational and people skills. Ideally, they will have previous experience of committee administration or something similar. A working knowledge of Excel, Dropbox, Zoom, WordPress and a skill for content writing would be a big plus. They will receive a detailed hand-over and full introductory support, including from the previous incumbent, and ongoing support from the relevant members of the Executive Committee.
This role is part-time and flexible and provides a great opportunity for someone looking for a stimulating role, working with an engaged and supportive Executive Committee, where variety is the norm. It may suit a journalist, PR or others with solid organisational skills who are looking to add another element to a portfolio career. There are occasions, such as our annuals awards, when the administrator would need to be in London, but most of the job can be done remotely.
Hours Will average at between 4-6 hours per week.
Terms £600 pcm with the potential of a bonus for additional hours worked around the awards and other events.
