The Medical Women’s Federation (MWF) is joining forces with the Doctors’ Association UK (DAUK) to highlight the issue of  domestic abuse of female doctors.

MWF is the largest organisation of women doctors and medical students in the UK and has worked to improve gender equity in medicine for more than 100 years.

It grew out of the Association of Registered Medical Women, which was founded in 1879, with a membership of just nine women — almost all those with medical training at that time.

The new campaign is the latest in a strong history of advocacy around issues including contraception, nutrition, lunacy law reform, assaults on young persons, the registration of nursing homes and even the fitness of women to qualify as commercial aeroplane pilots.

It also provides support women doctors to thrive and lead at all stages of their career. Go to the MWF website to learn more about the organisation and its work. Or email to sign up to their press list for updates on the domestic abuse campaign and other news.
