The MJA Annual General Meeting 2019 is on Wednesday October 16, 2019. The AGM will take place a very short walk from Victoria Station, in the airy and modern meeting space of Edelman. Members are invited from 19:00 for a 19:30 start.
This year the aim is to keep the formal business to an absolute minimum – approx 15 minutes, with then time for drinking, eating, networking and a broad and free discussion on how best the MJA can serve its members.
The MJA constitution is available for all to view. The constitution can only be amended by the AGM. If you wish to propose changes these need to be supported by 14 full members of the MJA. Any such proposals need to be received by the Executive Committee (EC) by 17:00 on 18 September. The EC will inform all members of any proposed changes by 17:00 on 25 September and they will then be discussed and voted on at the AGM.
You can also propose motions for debate at the AGM and these must be submitted to the EC by 17:00 on 18 September.
If you wish to stand for a place on the EC then you need to find another full member to nominate you and submit your nomination to the EC by 17:00 on 18 September.
The AGM is also the time to nominate individuals for Honorary Membership of the MJA, let the EC know of your nomination providing a supporting statement re this individual’s services to the Association or outlining their distinction in the fields of journalism or healthcare.
