Virtual COVID-19 congress to be hosted in September by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID)
One of the world’s leading infectious diseases societies will host the first virtual congress specifically dedicated to COVID-19 this September.
The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) will hold this virtual congress across three days from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September 2020.
The congress will feature several parallel tracks of research, and during the coming week ESCMID will issue a call for abstracts and studies to be presented. The full programme is currently being developed by a dedicated Programme Committee and will be available as the congress draws nearer.
“COVID-19 is a major public health incident which has brought about significant challenges and uncertainties with respect to diagnostics, therapeutics and prevention and control. We are learning all the time about the new SARS-CoV-2 virus and an international scientific event that brings together the latest research and scientific evidence is very timely,” explains Prof. Jacob Moran-Gilad, Programme Director for ESCMID’s annual European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID). “We will be asking clinicians and scientists from all over the world working in clinical microbiology, infectious diseases and related disciplines to present their work on COVID-19, and invite leading experts in this new disease to share their knowledge and experience. We will also be working closely with industry partners to ensure we have the most comprehensive programme possible.”
Press releases will be issued on the key studies being presented at the congress. Bona fide journalists can register to receive these press releases and further updates on the content of the congress.
