We’re delighted that Emma Wilkinson has agreed to become a Vice Chair of the MJA — and her appointment has been unanimously agreed by the Executive Committee.
Since joining the EC last year, she has become a valued member of the team and has also taken the lead on several events, including our Freelance 101 webinar.
Emma is a prolific freelance journalist who specialises in biosciences, medicine, and health policy, writing news and features for a wide range of outlets — print and digital — including medical journals and B2B publications.
Before going freelance, she was a manuscript editor at The Lancet Oncology, clinical reporter at Pulse, and health reporter at BBC News online.
Between commissions, Emma also manages to find time to lecture in journalism at Sheffield Hallam University, co-host the Freelancing for Journalists podcast, and to have co-authored the book, Freelancing for Journalists.
With Emma joining Chair Nigel Praities, co-Vice Chair Jane Symons, and an EC brimming with talent and experience the MJA is already planning an exciting programme of events and innovations for 2021.
