Health and fitness writer needed by Hearst

The Hearst Institute tests hundreds of products every year so that Hearst’s brands can recommend the best products on the market to their readers. We’re looking for a Health and Fitness Writer to join the Hearst Institute content team.

The Health and Fitness Writer will be responsible for transforming the testing completed at the Hearst Institute into engaging, high-quality content that expands Hearst’s print, commercial and ecommerce offering. You’ll write about a variety of products – from fitness trackers, to running jackets, to treadmills – for both print and online.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll work across all of Hearst’s flagship titles – but primarily Men’s Health, Runner’s World, Women’s Health and Good Housekeeping – and be responsible for helping their readers understand which health and fitness products are worth buying and why.

You’ll pitch content ideas to digital and print editors across Hearst’s titles, and work closely with the Hearst Institute testing team to select the right products to test. For online content, you’ll also ensure it’s fully optimised for affiliate links and SEO, and upload it onto our content management system. You’ll also work with the accreditation team to ensure our testing and content is optimised for commercial opportunities.

They’ll be the opportunity to develop your analytical skills too, as you’ll track and report back on the success of the content you’ve created, and you’ll also keep your content up to date in line with new product releases.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone with a passion for health and fitness, and with demonstrable experience of writing product review content for multiple publications. You’ll need to have good knowledge on the latest products within the health, fitness and wellness space, as well as the relevant PR contacts. You’ll also be aware of SEO core principles and best practice, while good knowledge of affiliate linking is also beneficial.

You’ll be organised, accurate and have a strong writing ability. You’ll be able to transform product test results into engaging, jargon-free copy at speed, and be able to adapt your tone and style of writing to suit different publications. Experience using content management systems and photoshop is also desirable.
