the 2023 MJA Awards judging day
As ever, we had a tsunami of last minute entries for the 2024 MJA Awards. In all more than 300 entries have been submitted — which is impressive when you consider that some categories, such as Editor of the Year, Best Newcomer and Best Student Journalist, are open to a limited number of entrants.
Our new Climate Change and Health has also attracted dozens of entries, confirming this is definitely an emerging area of interest for journalists and audiences.
We are now checking and collating entries before they are sent to our judging panels around the middle of June. Our judges will then have several weeks to assess the entries in their category and submit their personal shortlists. These are then collated to create working shortlists for the judging day, which will be at the end of July — when the winners, any commended entries and final shortlists are decided.
Details of the finalists, and links to their entries, will be published in the middle of August — and the winners will be announced at the 2024 MJA Awards ceremony at News UK on September 11.
With thanks to our sponsors:
