Remembering Claire

‘And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain … ’

The great, unique, irreplaceable Claire Rayner has died.

The MJA mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished honorary members. We gave Claire a Lifetime Achievement award in 2008. And what a lifetime. An obit that does justice to that long, productive life will appear on the MJA website – www.mjauk.org – soon. If you have memories of, or anecdotes about Claire please send them to .

Meanwhile our thoughts are for Des, her husband, and all her family.

A campaigner to the last, Claire said she wanted her last words to be recorded as: ‘Tell David Cameron that if he screws up my beloved NHS I’ll come back and bloody haunt him.’

We will not know her like again.
