A new MJA Award and a new venue

A room with views: the 2024 MJA Awards are being held at News UK

The 2024 MJA Awards, the Oscars of health and medical journalism,  are now open to entry — and this year we have a new award on Climate Change and Health, which is supported by the consumer healthcare group Haleon.

Our new award is open to all forms of media and has been introduced to highlight this increasingly important emerging health issue.

We also have a new venue for the Awards ceremony on September 11, with MJA members and guests able to enjoy stunning views of the City of London, St Paul’s and the Thames from a stunning space atop the News UK building.

Cash prizes

But the kudos, and cash, that comes from winning one of the most coveted prizes in health and medical journalism continue — with cash prizes of £750 and trophies for the winners of all our primary awards. And there is also a £250 cash prize and trophy for the Student Journalist of the Year Award we introduced last year.

Our 2024 MJA Awards entry page went live at 09:00 on May 1, and entries will close at 00:01 on June 1. Entry is free to members of the MJA — so if you’re eligible, why not join the MJA for £55 full membership or £13 student membership and enter for free? For non members the entry fee is £75 per entry and £20 for Student Journalist of the Year.

Please email us at  if you would like to know more about awards sponsorship and other opportunities to partner with the MJA.
