It’s been a tough year, or so, but there will be so much to celebrate at the MJA Awards ceremony on September 22 — and we look forward to catching up with members, sponsors, judges and invited guests.
We said we would monitor the situation re COVID-safety and have decided on the following measures to help all our guests feel as safe as is possible at the live event.
For those who can’t make it, or are vulnerable not comfortable attending a live event, the ceremony will be live streamed via our YouTube channel.

COVID strategy – MJA Awards 2021
Those attending are asked to:
- NOT attend if they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID
- Consider taking a lateral flow test on the day of the event and NOT attend if this is positive (the MJA will not be enforcing this measure but we believe this is a sensible, and considerate, thing to do to protect others from potential infection)
- Wear masks whilst moving around inside the venue and not drinking/eating (using the bathrooms for example)
- Wear masks whilst seated during the ceremony
- We understand of course that some individuals are exempt from use of masks and ask that you wear your lanyard or other identification so others know that you are exempt
- Use sanitizer stations regularly
- Be considerate of others wishes and always ask before any contact such as handshake, hugs etc.
- Those presenting awards and the host of the awards can remove masks to speak, there will be no handshakes when receiving awards, and masks may be removed for the pictures taken on stage
The venue has the following measures in place.
- Drinks reception at start of event and after the ceremony to be outside (weather permitting)
- All windows/doors to remain open throughout event (unless extreme weather prevents)
- Sanitizer stations around venue
- All catering staff wear visors
- All AV and other staff wear masks
- List of attendees kept with contact details
The MJA team will:
- Control access to building to prevent any potential congestion, plus guide individuals to spill-over rooms if weather does not permit use of outside space
- Wear masks while staffing the event
